Weddings
Willow Ceilidh Band specialise in weddings & know that each one is unique. We carefully consider the following details in order to create the perfect ceilidh for you:
- Number of guests, age range & dancing experience e.g. beginners / more experienced
- Music: perhaps you prefer mainly Scottish tunes or have a favourite tune or song
- Timings: we would normally perform for 3 x 45-minute sets but can adjust to suit
- Sound, Band & DJ options: we bring a full PA system and offer Ceilidh & Disco / DJ packages
- First dance - options include a circle dance or romantic waltz

What type of music do you play?
Mainly upbeat Scottish & Irish folk tunes but also English, Welsh & some continental / American music too. You can choose to focus on one tradition or a combination if preferred.Are your ceilidhs suitable for beginners?
Yes, many of the events we perform at are for those new to ceilidh dancing, however there's often a mix of abilities present & we tailor each ceilidh to suit the dancing level of the guests.How much do you charge?
From £550 upwards, depending on the size of band required.Do you do ceilidhs for children?
Yes we have a show for kids including simple fun dances, ceilidh games with prizes & actions songs for the little ones.Where do you perform?
We're based in London & perform at weddings, ceilidhs & barn dances across London, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Kent & the UK, as well as throughout Europe, in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Croatia etc.Do you have public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment?
Yes we do - documentation available on request.How long do you perform for and how do we structure our event to make the most of the dancing?
We normally do 2 x 45-minute sets of dancing with breaks in between. Send us your event details & we'll suggest the best options.How much space is required for the dancing & band?
We will adjust to whatever space is available and are used to performing in a wide variety of venues. Ideally 2sqft per dancer. For a quartet, the band require 4m x 2m. A raised stage is a welcome bonus if available.What is the line up for the band?
We normally perform as a quartet (3 musicians & caller) which would usually include fiddle, guitar, whistle, banjo & melodeon (with doubling). We do also work with an accordion, percussionist and flute player. We can also offer DJ / Disco sets alongside the ceilidh.What dances do you do?
We do all the well-known ones like Gay Gordons, Strip The Willow, Dashing White Sergeant, Cumberland Square Eight etc. alongside less well-known ones. We plan the dances based upon the space available & ability.Do you provide a PA system?
Yes, this is included in the price for UK events. You are welcome to play your music via iPod in between our sets & use our mics for speeches. We are happy to provide a DJ set for you after the ceilidh, on request.How long does it take you to set up / de-rig?
Around 30 minutes and this can also be done relatively quietly.Reviews (22)
We hired the band for our London wedding, where the majority of guests were English! We (and the beginners!) really appreciated the clarity of steps, and found the caller really engaging. We didn't get through as many dances as you might at a ceilidh in the north of Scotland, but that was to the benefit of the guests at our event! Worth noting also that we were really grateful for the gender neutrality of the instructions when it came to paired dancing - something we'd not heard before, but an important modernisation to be inclusive of all. Willow Ceilidh Band played at our wedding recently - they were fantastic. We had people who had different ceilidh experience, but the dances chosen and the quality of the calling meant everyone could join in and have fun. They helped create a relaxed atmosphere and we would highly recommend them.

We booked Willow to play a Ceilidh set at our wedding and they were fantastic. The caller was great and made the instructions clear, accessible and fun, and the whole band were brilliant. So many of our guests told us they loved the dancing. Would thoroughly recommend!

Willow Ceilidh Band were absolutely brilliant at our wedding, they had everyone up dancing! Even my Dutch family who were skeptical about a Ceilidh absolutely loved it and American colleagues said every wedding should have a ceilidh. Great band and disco for our wedding. Our guests loved the Scottish dancing followed by disco. Will was a real pleasure to work with. Ensured the band played songs and dances that suited us. And he took our playlist for the disco.

This is the third year that Willow Ceilidh Band have played at the annual Y11 dance. The booking process was smooth and easy. The evening was such a success thanks to the energy they brought to the event. The caller was easy to follow, enthusiastic, making the dancers feel confident they knew what they were doing! The music is fabulous and everyone left saying that they had a great evening. They didn’t know dancing could be so much fun! Thanks again for delivering a memorable set, giving pupils special memories that they will treasure. We can’t wait to welcome you back next year.

We were absolutely delighted with The Willow Ceilidh Band. The music was lively and fun and tailored to suit our mixed audience. Louise as caller made sure that everyone had a great time and we all went home smiling. There was a good mixture of dances and guests from 2 to 82 were helped to join in and have fun. They were very adaptable and relaxed and we enjoyed meeting them all. I think we were so lucky to find them and would heartily recommend them to anyone thinking of hosting a ceilidh. Willow Ceilidh Band played at our wedding in June 2024 and they were fantastic! It as the perfect way to start our evening party. Louise did a brilliant job as caller and got all the guests onto the dance floor. Everyone afterwards told us the ceilidh was a highlight of the day. Louise then DJ-ed for us until the finish too. Thanks to the band for a memorable evening!

Willow Ceilidh Band were simply SUPERB! We booked them for a Y11 Christmas Dance. The music was fantastic and the caller was first class. For many this was their first experience of Ceilidh music and dancing, they were not disappointed. I would high recommend them and we will definitely be having them back soon for both staff and pupil events! Thanks so much for making this a memorable evening for the pupils
